History of Hockey

 Hockey is a sport that has been played for centuries, with versions of the game being played in various cultures around the world. The modern version of the game, ice hockey, originated in Canada in the late 19th century and has since become a popular sport globally.


In ice hockey, two teams of six players each skate on an ice rink, using sticks to hit a hard rubber puck into the opponent's goal. The game is fast-paced and physical, with players using a combination of skill, speed, and teamwork to outmaneuver their opponents.


The National Hockey League (NHL) is the premier professional ice hockey league in the world and is based in North America. The Stanley Cup, the oldest professional sports trophy in North America, is awarded annually to the champion of the NHL playoffs. Ice hockey is also a popular sport at the amateur and collegiate levels, as well as internationally, with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) being the governing body for the sport.
